Staying On Track Over Easter
Share
Easter is a great time to enjoy the extra-long weekend and spend much needed time with family and friends.
Unfortunately, all the holiday eating/drinking, hot cross buns and easter eggs can derail our health journey and flare symptoms.
In my family I buy some healthy hot cross buns, some good quality treats (see below) and everyone gets some Easter PJ's (which they love). I learnt a long time ago that filling everyone up on sugar and gluten just causes everyone to feel yucky, so we just keep on going with our usual healthy food with some healthy Easter treats thrown in. I make Easter more about hanging out together, lots of fun activities like surfing, fishing, biking, hanging at the beach, playing games (we love playing cards) rather than Easter being all about loads of sugar filled chocolate.
Here are my tips for staying on track this Easter so you can still enjoy some lovely Easter treats without feeling unwell.

Rebalancing
If you find yourself indulging in more sugar or junk food than usual, don’t stress—it’s completely normal to enjoy a treat now and then. What truly matters are the habits you maintain every day, not the occasional indulgence.
If you do have a meal that feels off balance or doesn’t support your health, focus on rebalancing yourself at your very next meal with healthy protein and lots of veggies/fruits. Try not to let one less-than-ideal choice turn into a streak, as several meals like this in a row will usually trigger inflammation in your body and may cause symptoms to flare.
Master the art of rebalancing and you’ll be able to stay sustainably on track long term.
Have a lovely Easter break with your loved ones.
